Pakistan resumed their innings at 158 for four on the second day of the first Test match against Bangladesh with Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan desperate to attain a reasonable score.
Second-day Pak vs Ban Test: Green Shirts strive for decent total
The hosts lost back-to-back wickets on Wednesday, but Shakeel and Saim Ayub’s 98-run partnership saved the Shan Masood-led side.
The combination was doing well until Ayub was removed in the 32nd over. The hitter scored 56 off 98 balls, including four fours and a six, in his third innings to record his first Test 50. Shakeel and Rizwan led Pakistan to a respectable standing. Rizwan was undefeated at stumps on 24.
Both Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud took two wickets for Bangladesh. With Shakeel (74*) and Rizwan (64*) hitting their half-centuries, the Green Shirts will look to build on their partnership at 216-4 in 55 overs.
