Indian cricket vice-captain Shubman Gill believes the ICC Champions Trophy final winner will handle pressure better. Gill stated at a news conference at the Dubai Cricket Stadium a day before the final: “The squad is ready to win the one-day competition after losing the World Cup final in India.

Every player wants to do well in the great team environment.” Gill admitted that knock-out matches are stressful: “Every player feels it. Experienced players can handle it.”

He stated that Australia’s bowling attack wasn’t strong, but “The Indian team lost wickets under the pressure of the semi-final.” Gill, the world’s top batsman, stressed versatility in crucial matches. He said: “We always play to the circumstance. I play shots based on game conditions as a batsman.”

He praised India’s batting: “We have the world’s best lineup. The goal is to perfect the team plan, and everyone knows their job.” Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may play their last Champions Trophy final in Dubai on Sunday against New Zealand.

After poor Test cricket, Kohli, 36, and Rohit, 37, were rumored to retire before the 50-over event. After winning the World Cup last year, the tandem resigned from T20 internationals after 15 years with India.

This weekend could be their last ODI, with the next 50-over World Cup in 2027. India are favorites and confident in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium final. They won all four matches at the eight-nation event, including beat New Zealand by 44 runs in the group stages after both teams had reached the semi-finals.

After refusing to visit Champions Trophy hosts Pakistan due to political sensitivities, Rohit’s team played all their games in Dubai. India has a world-class spin attack and is seeking a record third Champions Trophy triumph.

They bowled out New Zealand for 205 in their chase of 250 with four spinners, led by Varun Chakravarthy’s 5-42. India’s spin-heavy squad won again against Australia, albeit on a less-turning Dubai pitch.
