Siya Kolisi celebrates 33rd birthday on Father’s Day!

Sunday, 16 June proved to be a day of double celebration for Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi.

Kolisi celebrates his 33rd birthday today – as well as Father’s Day.

Kolisi married Rachel Smith in 2016 and the couple have two children together: son Nicholas Siyamthanda (born 2015) and daughter Keziah (born 2017).

Siya Kolisi’s half-siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, children of Siya’s mother who died in 2009, have been part of the Kolisi household, after five years in orphanages and foster care in Port Elizabeth.

Siya Kolisi has 83 Test caps to his name

Rachel, one year older than Siya, is from Grahamstown and worked in event management before taking on duties as a full-time mother.

Kolisi’s alma mater Grey High School renamed its first XV rugby field as The Kolisi Field in 2022, in celebration of its most famous past pupil.

Kolisi has played 83 Tests for the Springboks, scoring 10 tries.

He’s led the team to back-to-back Rugby World Cup titles having lifted the Webb Ellis Cup in 2019 in Japan and 2023 in France.

However, Kolisi is unlikely to make it a hat-trick of trophies as he’s set to relinquish the captain’s armband as coach Rassie Erasmus looks to name a new leader based in South Africa.

Having previously played for the Stormers and Sharks in South Africa, Kolisi now represents Racing 92 in France.

The Springboks will play the first of 13 Tests in 2024 against Wales at Twickenham in London on Saturday, 22 June.
