Slikour’s ex-wife, Melissa, reveals the kind of father he is
On their daughter's sixth birthday, Slikour's ex-wife Melissa Wilkinson expressed her thoughts on the kind of father he really is.
When a celebrity divorce was as public as Slikour and Melissa’s, one would think there would be some drama or shade being thrown online, but nope, that’s not the case with this former couple.
Slikour, real name Siyabonga Metane, and his ex-wife Melissa Wilkinson went their separate ways after five years of marriage. However, they’re co-parenting their beautiful six-year-old daughter, Shaka Metane.
On Monday, 23 March, marked the sixth birthday of Shaka. Her parents, Slikour and Melissa, joined forces to celebrate her special day with friends and family.
MELISSA ACKNOWLEDGES SLIKOUR’S ROLE AS A FATHER
Melissa shared a slew of pictures on her Instagram Stories in honour of her daughter’s birthday. In one photo where Slikour is embracing their daughter, she wrote a positive caption praising the father of her daughter.
“The purest love. Thank you God for such a present father,” wrote Melissa.

The hip hop legend and author also shared moments from their daughter’s big day. He applauded Melissa for organising the birthday party, which featured cute decorations along with delicious treats ready to be devoured.
Slikour shared these lovely words for his daughter on her sixth birthday:
“Happy Birthday, Love. I can take the credit for this pure heart, it’s only God, he said, take the debit. Shoutout to @melissa_iam for setting up the party,” wrote Slikour.
THE COUPLE CALLED IT QUITS IN 2024
The year was 2024 when the news about their divorce broke, with a source telling Sunday World that Melissa had been emotionally, financially, and psychologically abused by Slikour.
The source also mentioned that Slikour hardly engaged with her about important family matters and that she felt lonely in her marriage.
In a separate article, Sunday World also reported that Slikour and Melissa reached an agreement whereby he would keep their marital home in Sandton after compensating Melissa with R250,000 as a settlement.
This meant that she agreed to move out once he had paid her the settlement or risk paying a monthly rent of R15,000 to Slikour.
After the allegations about their marriage spread like fire, the former couple issued a joint statement which stated the following:
“We have been married for over five years, and as with every marriage, we have our own trials and tribulations to face and overcome. While we acknowledge these challenges, we also would like the opportunity to work through them privately.“
“As parents, we are both very committed to building a happy and healthy home not only for ourselves but, most importantly, for our children.“
“We request that our marriage and family be treated with respect and sensitivity, allowing us our right to privacy,” read the statement.
