South Africa voted ‘most generous’ country in the world

A poll has found South Africa to be the “most generous country” in the world.

SOUTH AFRICA IS ‘MOST GENEROUS’ COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

In a poll conducted by the financial service company Remitly, South Africa ranked first in generosity, as measured by the Interpersonal Generosity Scale.

The poll surveyed 45000 people from around the world.

Instead of measuring generosity based on wealth, the scale assessed behavioural factors such as empathy, emotional support, patience, kindness, and a willingness to prioritise others’ needs.  

South Africa – which practices the concept of Ubuntu, based on kindness and compassion – took the number one. spot

According to poll findings, the Top 10 most generous countries are

1 – SA

2 – Philippines

3 – United States

4 – Ireland

5 – Canada

6 – Portugal

7 – Greece

8 – United Kingdom

9 – Australia

10 – Mexico

WHAT IS UBUNTU?

Ubuntu is a South African term based on the Zulu and Xhosa languages, which means “I am because we are.”

It symbolises humanity, compassion, and an unbreakable bond that transcends race, religion, or creed.
