Finally, The Springboks ended what was the longest drought in modern-day Bok rugby.
It took 9 years but for Jacques Nienaber, Rassie Erasmus and Siya Kolisi’s men rose and conquered the Aussies down under. Securing an impressive 24-8 victory in Sydney to ruin the opening of the new stadium in Sydney. Now, they have revived their Rugby Championship campaign.

BOKS REVIVE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP CAMPAIGN WHILST MAKING HISTORY
History was made in more ways than one, the Boks secured their first victory in Australia in nine years while winning the first-ever test match in the new stadium in Sydney. The Bokke managed to secure a bonus-point victory through tries by Damian Willemse, Canan Moodie, Franco Mostert, and Makozole Mapimpi to bring their Rugby Championship campaign back to life.
Nienaber gained a massive feather under his cap as Bok coach. Achieving a feat that not even Rassie Erasmus could, a victory over the Wallabies in Australia. In his short stint as Bok coach, he now has a victory n Australia, an emphatic 26-10 victory over the All Blacks in Nelspruit, and a British & Irish Lions series under his belt.

The Boks started like a house on fire, turning down the early penalty to kick for the corner early on. They were rewarded when Willemse dotted down for the first try of the game. Some poor decisions prevented a more dominant lead for the Boks in the first half. First De Allende went for a cross kick instead of letting the ball do the work before a couple of poor decisions prevented the Boks from some golden try-scoring opportunities.
Thankfully, debutant Moodie produced a moment of brilliance when he scored a scintillating try on debut. Minuted before the half-time whistle, Moodie gathered Jaden Hendrikse’s Box kick on the full, grasping the ball in from Markia Koroibete in mid-air to slice into the space and run through for a memorable try.

This gave the Springboks a 12-3 lead at half-time. They continued to show their intent when Franco Mostert finished off a well-worked move, beautiful slick hands resulted in a score in the corner to give the Boks a 17-3 lead early in the second half. What was most impressive from this Bok side is how they managed to score four tries without the use of a rolling maul.
They secured this famous victory without several top stars such as Pieter-Steph Du Toit, Handre Pollard, Luckanyo AM and Cheslin Kolbe. We have a star for the future in Moodie while Willemse is surely the find of the season so far.

The Boks displayed passion, drive, and intensity on defence throughout the 80 minutes. Conceding a consolation try late on when the contest was already decided. This has been sorely missed in their recent two encounters and was a pleasure to experience as a Bok fan.
The Boks move up to third in the Rugby Championship. Level on points with Argentina and Australia on 9 points. We are in for a nerve-wracking and tantalising finish with all four sides separated by one point with just two rounds to go.
