Stage 3 load shedding planned on FRIDAY – UPDATED schedule here

Eskom said Stage 3 load shedding would be implemented on FRIDAY.

STAGE 3 LOAD SHEDDING WILL CONTINUE

The power utility said Stage 3 load shedding will continue until Saturday morning. It furthermore said the continued load shedding was necessary due to a shortage of generation capacity as a result of the persistently high levels of breakdowns.

“A generation unit each at Arnot, Kriel, Lethabo, Matla as well as two units at Camden Power Station have returned to service since Tuesday evening.”

Eskom

A generating unit each at Kusile and Majuba power stations was returned to service. A generating unit each at Duvha, Kendal, Komati, Kusile, Matimba, Lethabo and Tutuka power stations was taken offline for repairs.

“The delay in returning two generating units at Kendal power station and one generating unit at Tutuka power station to the grid has added to the capacity constraint.

“Emergency generation facilities have been adequately replenished.”

Eskom said.

It furthermore said it has 6 893MW on planned maintenance, while another 16 168MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
