India was given the second semi-final spot for the 2024 T20 World Cup by the International Cricket Council (ICC), raising doubts about its judgement. India is in Group A with archrivals Pakistan, USA, Canada, and Ireland. The first semi-final at Tarouba, Trinidad, will start at 8:30 local time, which is 6am in India on June 27, which ESPN Cricinfo says is unsuitable for Indian audiences. However, the second semi-final will begin at 10:30am local time, 8:00pm in India. Indian fans prefer the second semi-final time.

On June 29, the World Cup final would begin at 10am local time, 7:30pm in India. No reserve day has been announced for the second semi-final, however 250 minutes of extra time will be given if it is delayed. However, the first and final semi-finals will have reserve days.

T20 World Cup 2024: Why ICC gave India second semi-final slot?

Remember that a World Cup knockout match can only be decided if both sides bat for at least ten overs. Otherwise, reserve day for the first semi-final and final would be held.

For this World Cup, the side batting second will have to bat for five overs to establish a result if there is an interruption, like in previous T20 events. The ten-over rule allows three knockouts.

From June 1, 55 World Cup games will be played in nine West Indies and US locations.

West Indies sites include Kensington Oval, Barbados; Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad; Providence Stadium, Guyana; Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua; Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, St Lucia; Arnos Vale Stadium, St Vincent.

The US matches will be played in Eisenhower Park, New York, Lauderhill, Florida, and Grand Prairie, Texas.

The World Cup final will be held in Barbados on June 29 after the semi-finals in Guyana and Trinidad on June 26 and 27.
