T20 World Cup | Live scoring: Proteas v New Zealand

The Proteas head back into action at the T20 World Cup on Saturday hoping for a more composed and calm encounter against New Zealand after a double super over victory against Afghanistan in the week.

There is a little less pressure on both teams, who already both well-placed to progress to the Group 8 stage of the tournament, although a victory in Ahmedabad would guarantee their progress with a game still to be played.

Saturday’s game gets underway at 15:30 (SA time).

PROTEAS LIVE SCORING AT THE T20 WORLD CUP

Ahead of Saturday’s game, captain Aiden Markram called on the Proteas to demonstrated much-improved discipline.

“Realising the importance of every delivery” was important, Markram told reporters after the nail-biting result against Afghanistan.

“Also realising the importance of winning smaller moments in the game, and not putting too much importance on the end result.

“But yeah, two Super Overs in a game, I don’t think many of us have been a part of it. But it’s certainly really nerve-wracking.

“First and foremost, discipline,” said Markram. “Not just from the no ball or anything like that, but 22 extras I think it’s been now in two games. And it’s a lot of runs in this format.”

EXTRA INFORMATION FOR SA FANS TO NOTE

Just like the last edition of the tournament, which was hosted by the USA and West Indies two years ago, 20 teams are featuring once again.

The teams have been split into four even groups, with each side playing a minimum of four matches against their other group members.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8 stage, which will consist of two groups of four teams. Once again, each collection of teams will play their group members, with the top two from each group progressing.

From there, the final four will play in the knockout stage, where the winners of each semi-final will qualify for the final.
