The 67 Capitec bank branches where you can get a Smart ID in SA
Capitec has now rolled out even more Smart ID services nationwide. Here’s the full list of branches where you can get a card.
Capitec has now expanded its Smart ID services to 67 branches across the country, marking a major step forward in bringing government services closer to where people already bank.
The bank started with just a handful of pilot branches, but the rollout has picked up pace quickly.
With the addition of new locations, Capitec now has one of the widest Smart ID service networks among South African banks.
The 67 Capitec branches now offering Smart ID services
This expansion forms part of a broader partnership with the Department of Home Affairs to modernise how IDs are issued.
At participating branches, Capitec clients can:
- Apply for a Smart ID card
- Replace a lost or damaged ID
- Upgrade from the old green ID book
The process is designed to be fast and efficient, with applications completed through self-service terminals in-branch, often in just a few minutes.

- The service is currently only available to Capitec customers
- It mainly covers ID replacements and upgrades
