Waseem Akram, Pakistan’s former captain and top pacer, has hinted at India travelling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy, saying India is sending good signs. The legendary bowler, nicknamed as the Sultan of Swing, said the Pakistan Cricket Board had made many proposals to the BCCI to secure their team’s comfortable arrival to India for the world competition.

“India should come to Pakistan,” Akram said Wednesday at an online press conference in Melbourne.

He stated that Pakistani supporters are anxiously awaiting Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav’s arrival. He suggested that India consider allowing people from both countries to communicate, adding that he had not been over the border in six to seven years.

Akram advised Indian players to visit Pakistan, saying they would love it.

The former bowler stated Australia’s challenging conditions will make Pakistan’s series with Australia difficult.

Even winning one ODI is a big deal, and the T20 series will be fantastic, he remarked.

Akram said Fakhra Zaman is an impact player, but the PCB was bound to be upset over his social media post following Babar Azam’s departure from the Test squad during the recent Test series against England.

After a controversial post on X, Zaman was handed a show-cause notice and banned from the board’s central contract for criticising team selectors for removing Babar.

I doubt Fakhar wrote the social media statement. He stated the author should have informed him of its effects on his central contract.

“This is a lesson for Fakhar Zaman, one should write thoughtfully on social media,” remarked.

The senior cricketer stated Muhammad Rizwan’s job as white-ball captain in the Australia and Zimbabwe tours is a good one, but he should focus on the game. He told Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah to ignore social media and Babar to disregard captaincy and runs.
