Who asked Cavin Johnson for his opinion on Kaizer Chiefs?

Former Kaizer Chiefs interim boss Cavin Johnson has weighed in with a strong opinion on the club’s 2024-2025 campaign.

Johnson thinks Kaizer Chiefs underachieved this season

Despite ending their long trophy drought, ex-interim boss Cavin Johnson believes Kaizer Chiefs didn’t do well enough in the league.

“As far as Kaizer Chiefs are concerned, I do believe that with the signings they made this season and the fact that they brought a new technical team, they should have done better than what they have done, than what they achieved this season,” said johnson at the La Liga event in Melrose Arch most recently.

Last time we checked, Johnson presided over a team finishing empty-handed and in 10th position. To be fair, however, countless other coaches before him suffered the same fate.

Three key areas for Chiefs to strengthen

It’s been a while since Amakhosi had a high-volume midfield maestro they could rely on to dictate the tempo. Kingsley Michael is still only 25, but the Nigerian midfield orchestrator has already been around the block. His club career has seen him enjoy stints across Europe. First in Italy with Bologna, Perugia, Cremonese and Reggina. Then, spells with SV Ried and DSV Leoben in Austria. Now he’s on the books of Monastir in Tunisia. Surprisingly, he’s only earned one cap for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
