Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday he had “coordinated” with Britain’s new Prime Minister Liz Truss “further pressure” on Russia in the seventh month of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

Truss is Britain’s new Conservative leader, taking over from Boris Johnson, one of Zelensky’s greatest backers.

Zelensky said on Twitter he was the first foreign leader who spoke to Truss after she was confirmed in her new role and “invited her to Ukraine”.

Zelensky made his goal clear

He “thanked British people for the major defence and economic aid for Ukraine”, saying “it’s important that Britain is ready to further strengthen it”.

Zelensky said he “coordinated” with Truss “further pressure” on Russia.

“The goal is to stop the aggression and bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said, adding that “it’s important to designate Russia a terrorist state”.

Britain has been a staunch ally of Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion on February 24.

London has funnelled military hardware, funding and training resources to Kyiv’s embattled forces, now waging battles in the nation’s south and east.
