A tri-series with Pakistan and the UAE and A team travels to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have been proposed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). At the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s annual Board Meeting in Colombo, ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Naseeb Khan met with Cricket South Africa, Cricket New Zealand, and Cricket West Indies to discuss a white-ball series before the Champions Trophy 2025.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Naseeb Khan attended the ICC Board Meeting in Sri Lanka this week, along with officials from other member countries, the ACB announced in a news release. The Afghanistan Cricket Board’s leadership discussed recent accomplishments, actions, and plans at the meeting. They also discussed white-ball bilateral cricket with Cricket South Africa, Cricket New Zealand, and Cricket West Indies before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The negotiations also covered team excursions to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and a Youth Tri-Series versus Pakistan and the UAE, with dates and locations to be determined. “The ICC leadership and meeting participants praised ACB and AfghanAtalan’s recent accomplishments in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and their remarkable performances and significant contribution to entertaining fans worldwide and developing cricket in Afghanistan.”

Rashid Khan’s Afghanistan cricket team astonished the cricket world in the T20 World Cup 2024. They reached the semi-finals for the first time in an ICC event, defeating Australia and New Zealand. Despite losing to South Africa in the semi-final, Afghanistan played aggressive cricket throughout the tournament.
