Banyana Banyana were soundly beaten 3-0 by Brazil in an international friendly at the Orlando Stadium on Friday.

In a clash between the Copa American women’s champions and the Women’s African Cup of Nations queens, the class of the Brazilians shone through.

Brazil are currently ranked ninth in the world with Banyana Banyana in 54th place – and the gulf in class was evident throughout the 90 minutes.

Brazil’s two first-half goals came via Geyse in the 43rd minute and Adriana two minutes later.

The South Americans added a third goal through defender Tamires in the 64th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Banyana Banyana will be out for revenge next Monday

The sides will do battle for a second time on Monday, 5 September at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Kick-off is at 18:00.

The matches are part of both sides’ preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup to be played in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
