‘Can’t even talk’: Mike Tyson suffering rare health condition [watch]
After pics of Mike Tyson in a wheelchair last month, he has revealed he has a rare condition that causes nerve irritation in the body.
Boxing legend Mike Tyson has opened up about a rare condition that he is suffering from called sciatica. This comes after the 56-year-old was pictured in a wheelchair holding a walking stick last month at the Miami airport.
Speaking to Newsmax TV, Tyson said that his condition “flares up” now and then.
MIKE TYSON OPENS UP ABOUT HIS HEALTH ISSUE
During his interview on Newsmax TV, the former heavyweight world champion revealed that sciatica is the only health issue he suffers from, adding that when it becomes severe he struggles to talk.
“I have sciatica every now and then, it flares up. When it flares up, I can’t even talk! Thank God it’s the only health problem I have. I’m splendid now.
“Everybody in my house is truly blessed and we’re all very grateful for whatever we have,” he said.
According to Spine Health, sciatica is a term used to describe nerve pain in the leg that is caused by irritation and or compression of the sciatic nerve. The condition starts in the lower back, radiates deep into the buttock, and travels down the leg.
In 2005, Tyson retired from boxing due to back issues and a knee injury — The Sun reports.

‘MY EXPIRATION DATE IS COMING CLOSE’
Before images of the world-renowned boxing champion in a wheelchair emerged, he had been pictured using a walking stick while arriving at a New York hotel in July.
In the same month, during his Hotboxin’ podcast, Tyson came out to say that he does not think he has much time left on earth and feels like his expiration date is approaching soon.
“We’re all gonna die one day of course,” Tyson said.
“Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say, ‘Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.’”
