SuperSport United midfielder Grant Margeman has reflected on not being allowed to play against his ‘parent’ team Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined Matsatsantsa on a two-year loan deal from Bafana Ba Style at the start of this season.

Other Mamelodi Sundowns’ players on loan at SuperSport United are Ricardo Goss and Thabang Sibanyoni who joined on two-year and one-year loan deals, respectively.

Margeman, along with the aforementioned duo, were watching from the stands when Mamelodi Sundowns beat their cross-town rivals 2-0 in the MTN8 quarter-finals thanks to a loan rule which prohibits them from playing against the Brazilians.

MARGEMAN REACTS TO RULE PROHIBITING HIM TO PLAY AGAINST DOWNS

“As a player, it’s not something nice because you always want to play against the best team in the league, but that’s how it is in football. I am still part of the Mamelodi Sundowns set-up, so the agreement is there and I had to accept it,” Margeman told Soccer Laduma.

“But I think the boys know what to expect after the cup game. It’s going to demand a lot of hard work and mental strength. I think the team will be better prepared going into this game, to know what they will throw at us and how we can hurt them.”

Margeman has been in superb form for the Swanky Boys since the beginning of this season and has scooped two man of the match accolades.

With the Pretoria derby set to take place again this Friday, this time in the DStv Premiership, Matsatsantsa will again be without their Sundowns loanees.

Kick-off will be at 19:30.
