Here’s the official petrol price for November 2025
The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has confirmed the fuel price adjustments to take effect at midnight on Tuesday, 4 November.
South African motorists will see fuel price cuts in November, as lower global oil prices and a stronger rand combined to deliver an over-recovery for most of October.
According to data from the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, petrol prices will decrease by 51 cents per litre, while diesel will see a reduction of between 19 and 21 cents per litre from midnight on Tuesday, 4 November.
Trade tensions
Oil prices traded in a wider-than-usual range during October, fluctuating between $58 and $68 a barrel as geopolitical and trade tensions between the United States and China added volatility to the market.
Despite the turbulence, oil prices generally trended lower toward month-end, supporting a positive fuel-price recovery.
The rand also remained relatively firm, averaging around R17.30 to the US dollar, and trading between R17.06 and R17.58 during the month.
The combination of a softer oil market and rand stability pushed South Africa’s fuel price recovery figures into strong over-recovery territory, paving the way for the first broad-based fuel price cuts in months.
Economists say the reductions will provide some welcome relief to consumers ahead of the busy festive season, though global price volatility remains a key risk for December’s outlook.
