Heritage Day BBQ chicken: A flavour-packed dish for Braai Day
On 24 September, celebrate National Braai Day with the juiciest WEBER Heritage Day BBQ chicken recipe you've ever had.
Spring is here and that also means it’s time for South Africa’s Heritage Day, also known as Braai Day. Popping some of our favourite meats on an open fire for an incredible feast is what we do best. Some of us are often scared of putting chicken on the braai, but our Heritage Day BBQ chicken stays juicy and tender when cooked on a WEBER braai. Closing the lid keeps the smoke and moisture inside, keeping it juicy and adding smokey flavours.
This simple BBQ recipe doesn’t involve days in the marinade as the way of cooking and the continuous basting does its magic.
Heritage Day BBQ chicken tips
Not only is the basting sauce great for grilling but you can serve it on the side as a gravy too. Keeping the bones in the chicken breasts will help them stay moist. The bones will also add extra flavour. The WEBER grill will help you to control the heat and when closed, it is almost like baking in the oven. So, no need to worry about dried-out chicken when you use The WEBER grill.
Make sure you keep a basting brush handy to enhance the flavour. If you choose to keep the chicken skins on, give them some nice char on the outside for a more tasty and crispy indulgence. Serve your BBQ chicken alongside the feast you’ve prepared for the big group of family and friends you’ve invited over.
Celebrate one of South Africa’s favourite days with a big braai and an assortment of great food, including our Heritage Day BBQ chicken.
