It’s the new way of enjoying a fully-loaded breakfast with your family.
Homemade baked beans tips
You can use fresh kidney beans, ready-made and canned beans too. The real magic happens with your homemade sauce and then baking them for a second time. The mustard and onions add some great flavour punch while the bacon is doing what bacon does best, add tons of salty flavour and well-rendered fat. Serve with eggs, more bacon, sausages and toast for a fully-loaded meal. You can also enjoy them with a toasted sandwhich.

Homemade baked beans recipe

½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp instant coffee
1 tsp vinegar
150 g water
1 tsp mustard powder
½ tsp salt
1 onion, finely chopped
1 kg baked beans
4 bacon rashers, chopped
Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Mix sugar, coffee, vinegar, water, mustard and salt in a saucepan. Boil together for 5 minutes.
- Add the beans and simmer together.
- Pour into casserole dish, Place the bacon on top and bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
