Hundreds of Somalis protest against Al Shabaab after deadly Mogadishu attack

Hundreds of Mogadishu residents gathered at Lido Beach on Monday to denounce the deadly terrorist attack that took place in the Somali capital over the weekend. Authorities say 37 people were killed and over 200 injured in an attack claimed by the al Qaeda-affiliated group Al Shabaab. Meanwhile, Ukraine argues Mali's junta leaders acted too quickly in cutting diplomatic ties. Bamako accused Kyiv of backing Tuareg rebels, who killed several Malian soldiers and Russian Wagner fighters earlier in July. Finally, Nigeria has unveiled a 2.5-ton elephant sculpture made of the fragments of confiscated tusks, as the country seeks to shed light on poaching.
