India overcame in semis to arrange WCL 2024 final with Pakistan
In the second semi-final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 at the County Ground in Northampton on Friday night, India Champions defeated Australia Champions by 86 runs. India will meet Pakistan in the championship final on Saturday at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. India thrashed the Aussies in the semi-final with their all-round effort.
Australia never threatened the 255-run total as Indian bowlers controlled from the onset. As the target was too high and required stronger innings, Australia lost crucial hitters Shaun Marsh (2), Aaron Finch (16), Ben Dunk (10), and Callum Ferguson (23) without contributing. Indian bowlers troubled the Aussies, who finished their innings at 168-7 in the allotted overs.
After being assigned to bat first, Robin Uthappa led India’s innings and scored 65 runs off 35 balls with 10 boundaries. Yuvraj Singh picked up where Uthappa left off and scored 59 runs off 28 balls before being bowled by Peter Siddle. Irfan and Yousuf Pathan battered Australia after Yuvraj left. The brothers’ 95-run partnership helped India reach the 255-run total, which Australia couldn’t match.
Irfan scored 50 on 19 balls and Yousuf 51 on 23. Siddle took four wickets for Australia, while Coulter-Nile and Xavier Doherty both took one.
