As per ESPN, Martino clarified that although supporters may be disappointed, the coaching staff must prioritise the welfare of the players.
During a press conference, Matino stated, “We underwent training yesterday.” Upon completion, I consulted with the coaching staff and engaged in discussions with the players, leading us to collectively decide that they would not be included in the team.
“We acknowledge the public’s dissatisfaction, particularly in their desire to witness these athletes, however, it is our responsibility as the coaching staff to make these difficult choices.”
He recognised the significance of the players, but he also stated that “we must implement these measures, which can occasionally be disagreeable for individuals.” However, they provide advantages for the gamer.
According to ESPN, Messi, who is 36 years old, is expected to join Argentina’s roster of 29 players for the next friendly matches next month. These matches will be against Ecuador and Guatemala, and will be followed by the Copa America, when Argentina will defend their championship.
Following their match against the Whitecaps, Messi’s Inter Miami will welcome Atlanta United on Wednesday and St Louis City on Saturday, marking their return to South Florida.
Miami will have a schedule of three games within a span of seven days for the second time this month.
