Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has explained his decidion to drop midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe in the last two league matches.

Sithebe was in scintillating form for Chiefs at the start of the season but he was suddenly dropped by Zwane, and some fans have asked his whereabouts.

His performances took the majority of Chiefs fans by surprise given that he spent five months or so without kicking a ball at AmaZulu.

And this was due to the fact that the AmaZulu management was angry that Sithebe had signed a pre-contract with Chiefs in January.

There were concerns that Sithebe would struggle for fitness at Chiefs this season but it was actually the opposite as he fitted like a glove in Zwane’s team.

Now, Zwane dropped Sithebe in the last two league matches against Swallows FC and Stellenbosch, and this is because he feels the dreadlocked midfielder ran out of steam in recent times.

ZWANE EXPLAINS SITHEBE’S ABSENCE FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

“There is no doubt that Sithebe, in the first few games that we played, added much-needed value but unfortunately, there were games where he ran out of steam,” Zwane told the media on Thursday.

“We expected that, because he was out and did not play football for a long time. We are managing him, and we believe that he is going to come back very strong,” he added.

Amakhosi take on Chippa United in the league at FNB Stadium on Saturday, and it remains to be seen if Sithebe will be brought back.
