Kaizer Chiefs move for young Bafana Bafana star ‘just a matter of time’

A huge coup, if true.

Kaizer Chiefs move for young Bafana Bafana star ‘just a matter of time’

Kaizer Chiefs will soon conclude a deal for Bafana Bafana and Polokwane star Oswin Appollis.

Chiefs close in on a deal for Oswin Appollis

According to The Citizen, Chiefs are close to sealing a deal for 22-year-old Bafana Bafana and Polokwane winger Oswin Appollis.

“From what I’ve been told, it’s just a matter of time before the deal is concluded. I will check again if he (Appollis) reported for training on Monday. He might even stop training in order to conclude the Chiefs deal because they are serious about wrapping up the transfer but the issue is about agreeing on a fee,” said their source.

Sekhukhune winger Mokwana is also on the menu

According to a Sunday World source, Chiefs have made an offer for Bafana winger Elias Mokwana but Babina Noko rejected it outright. Sekhukhune want roughly R15 million for their star winger while Chiefs’ offer of R12 million is still regarded as way too low. Their CEO Jonas Mlatji isn’t playing around. Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has promised to reveal the club’s new signings on July 28th before they face Yanga in Bloemfontein. How he’d love to include Mokwana in that announcement.

“For now Esperance haven’t tabled any concrete offer but they’ve just indicated verbally that they are interested (in Mokwana). I expect Chiefs to come back with an improved offer in the next 48 hours and then I think the deal will be concluded though I don’t know the exact amount the club is asking because the CEO [Jonas Malatji] is the one handling these things.”

“I remember the same thing happened when we sold them [Chiefs] Maart. Their initial offer was very little and they improved it after three days before signing him. So, I predict that the same thing will happen with Elias (Mokwana) unless Esperance come with a huge offer in the meantime.” their source concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs finished the 2023-2024 league campaign in tenth position, their worst placing in the history of the DStv Premiership. Their last league title came back in 2015, their most recent piece of major silverware. The club’s next friendly outing is in the Toyota Cup, staged in Bloemfontein, on 28 July. They’ll face new manager Nasreddine Nabi’s old club Young Africans from Tanzania.
