Kaizer Chiefs NOT interested in Bafana goal machine. Here’s why…

Kaizer Chiefs have made it no secret that they are still searching for an ideal striker to bolster their squad.

Ahead of the previous transfer window, it was believed that a striker was top of the wish list for Chiefs.

Chiefs failed to secure striker signing

Chiefs were linked to a plethora of strikers during that window, with none eventually arriving at Naturena. The likes Lebo Mothiba, Iqraam Rayners, Khanyisa Mayo and Fiston Mayele all rumoured to top that transfer wish list. In the case of Mayo, Amakhosi had gone and met his asking price from Cape Town City. In the end, they were too late as a deal taking him to Algeria was already too advanced.

Rivals Mamelodi Sundowns beat Chiefs and reportedly Orlando Pirates to the signing of Rayners. With release clause rumoured to be R10 million, a deal was there to be done if the Glamour Boys wanted to. And as fate would have it, the former Stellenbosch FC striker would score the winner between the two sides over the weekend. That was a game where Ranga Chivaviro scored for the hosts. That was his second goal in his last two matches, drawing plaudits from coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Nabi did, however, admit that he is still looking for another striker to challenge Chivaviro. With the window shut, the free agency market can be his only go-to. The one striker from that market who was linked to Chiefs in that market is Bafana Bafana striker Dino Ndlovu. But according to The Citizen, the Soweto giants are not keen on his services.

Not interested in Ndlovu

“I can tell you that Chiefs are not interested in Ndlovu. I know the coach wants experience but Ndlovu is not the type of player they’re looking for. The numbers won’t even make sense because the guy was a big earner in Europe so it wouldn’t make sense for Chiefs to pay that much for him at his age. They would rather go for a younger striker with a little bit of experience” said a source to the publication.

Chiefs seem like they will have to soldier on with Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez playing a supporting role.
