Kaizer Chiefs should sign these 3 Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns stars
Kaizer Chiefs should consider signing these three attackers from Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in the off-season.
Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to strengthen their squad with some key signings in the next transfer window in order to further close the gap to rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Let’s take a look at THREE players Kaizer Chiefs should consider signing from the Buccaneers and Masandawana.
STRONG CRY FOR LUCAS RIBEIRO TO KAIZER CHIEFS
Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lucas Ribeiro is the latest star to be mentioned in the same sentence as Amakhosi.
In fact, former Kaizer Chiefs coach Sergio Dos Santos feels that Amakhosi should break the bank to try and sign the skilful and talented attacker.
“Ribeiro is an exceptional player and [would be] a valuable addition for Amakhosi at this time. He has the ability to impact any team in South Africa in a big way,” he told KickOff.
“If he is available and can be brought back to South Africa, I would strongly recommend that Chiefs get him. We all saw Ribeiro’s influence during his tenure at Sundowns. He has both skill and situational awareness on and off the field.”
“He understands the game thoroughly and is the type of player who can motivate others. The current challenge at Chiefs is the absence of such a leader, an individual who can carry the team and command respect from opponents,” he concluded.
There is no doubt he would be a mega signing if the move is possible.
However, Ribeiro is still contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Furthermore, he is unlikely to leave the reigning and defending Betway Premiership champions as he’s reported to be happy at The Brazilians.
AMAKHOSI COULD SIGN ORLANDO PIRATES DUO
As reported on The South African, Kaizer Chiefs could sign outbound Orlando Pirates attacker, Tshegofatso Mabasa.
Meanwhile, Kabelo Dlamini will probably have to leave the Bucs if he is to revive his Bafana Bafana career.
The Orlando Pirates midfielder has fallen out of favour with national coach Hugo Broos.
He last represented South Afrcia at the COSAFA tournament back in June/July 2025 – almost a year ago.
Both players present feasible and valuable prospective signings for Amakhosi.
Struggled up front
Kaizer Chiefs have struggled up front with no striker reaching double figures in terms of goals in a season since Samir Nurkovic back in the 2019/20 campaign.
The Glamour Boys would certainly benefit from a clinical finisher like Mabaso.
Kaizer Chiefs only boast 28 goals in 24 league matches this season. That pales in comparison to Orlando Pirates’ 50 goals (in 25 matches) and Mamelodi Sundowns’ 42 (from 23 matches).
Flávio Silva, with seven goals, is Kaizer Chiefs’ leading scorer in the league this season with just six matches remaining.

Meanwhile, a move from Mayfair to Naturena would present Dlamini with a chance to play more frequently and to try and play his way back into the national set-up.
