Mama Joy pays tribute to late Pirates keeper Senzo Meyiwa

The South African sports super fan Joy ‘Mama Joy’ Chauke has paid tribute to the late former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.

In her post, the former Pirates super fan revealed that she will join the convoy to visit Senzo Meyiwa’s family this week. The convoy will start at the Durban South Beach and head to Senzo Meyiwa’s family in Umlazi, Durban, on Saturday, 5 October 2024.

@orlandopirates,” Mama Joy paid tribute to Senzo Meyiwa in a tweet.

For several decades, Mama Joy was a huge fan of Pirates, attending most of their games. She became one of the most recognisable faces in South African sport. In 2021, Mama Joy made headlines when he ditched Pirates after 30 years to support Royal AM.

Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead 10 years ago

Despite jumping ship, she continued to celebrate some of the Buccaneers’ legends.

Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed during an apparent home invasion at the home of his girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus in 2014. Although several suspects were arrested for his murder, the case is yet to be solved.
