Misfiring Kaizer Chiefs attacker set to leave in January?

Kaizer Chiefs could release their big winger Christian Saile in January according to reports.

The 25-year-old Congolese forward has only managed to score seven goals in 57 appearances for Amakhosi across all competitions. Saile joined the Glamour Boys on a three-and-a-half year deal from Zambian club Nchanga Rangers in January 2023.

The winger has never settled at Naturena despite playing over 50 matches for the club. According to Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs are willing to let go of Saile in January as they look to cut costs.

“They have looked at all angles including how much the club is spending already and if they are to bring in more players while there are players who are not really playing or performing it will balloon the salary bill and they are avoiding that,” an insider told the publication.

Kaizer Chiefs could release a few players in January

“So letting Saile go is one way of cutting on the costs at the club hence even the loan deal could be out but releasing him seems to be the right solution,” said the inside.

Saile is yet to feature this season under Nasreddine Nabi. After seven league matches played, it looks less likely that the Congolese will break into Amakhosi’s starting eleven. With the January transfer window opening in a few weeks, Kaizer Chiefs are likely to release a few players in that period.

Saile could be one of them given the fact that his contract is coming to an end very soon.

Should Saile be given another season to prove his worth?
