Residents of Hout Bay were left shaken this week after police confirmed they are investigating a murder case following the discovery of a body.

The body was found in a decomposed state in an abandoned house near the Sea View Flats in Hangberg.

Authorities yet to establish the identity of the deceased.

Pursuing all leads

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said officers attached to the Hout Bay police station are leading the investigation and pursuing all available leads.

“At this stage, the identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. The circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation,” police said.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have not publicly disclosed a possible motive.
