N3 from Sanctuary to Link Road to undergo construction from today

Reconstruction work on the N3 from Sanctuary Road to Link Road begins today, Tuesday, 4 October.

The road will be reduced to one lane at night

Reports state that the construction will result in traffic being restricted to a single lane on the southbound carriageway. South African National Roads Agency’s (Sanral) eastern region project manager Thabiso Dladla says the road will be reduced to one lane at night.

Dladla said the work will be undertaken between 19:30 and 04:00 and will go on for approximately three weeks, reports The Witness.

Alternative routes for motorists

For those who are travelling to Durban, the Cedara turn-off can be used. Motorists are advised to then drive along the R103 to join the N3 at the Armitage Road on-ramp. This route can only be used by light motor vehicles during this period.

Vehicles above eight tons cannot use the R103 and should allow extra time for delays. Motorists are also advised about uneven surfaces caused by the repairs. They are urged to adhere to all speed restrictions when approaching and travelling through the construction site.

Sanral wishes to apologise to the motoring public for any inconvenience caused during the road closure. We appeal to road users to plan their trips accordingly,” said Dladla.
