Naqvi to become ACC president

On Tuesday, sources told Geo News that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi will be ACC president. The PCB Chairman becomes ACC president in January 2025 for two years. India’s Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, chairs the regional cricketing body. The Asian cricketing organization appointed Shah secretary in 2021 and extended his term by one year in January 2024. The ACC presidents rotate among member countries. The next ACC meeting in October-November is expected to confirm Naqvi’s nomination. Naqvi was appointed PCB chairman in February for a three-year term and is also Pakistan’s interior minister.

Geo News claimed today that Naqvi will share duties with former Pakistan cricket captain Waqar Younis. Naqvi will handle board administration and the experienced bowler will advise him on cricket. Younis will manage international and domestic cricket, the selection committee, and player NOCs. The PCB 2014 Constitution permits the chairman to share power with another official.
