No arrest in Operation Dudula fatal shooting [UPDATE]

Police in Limpopo are yet to make an arrest following the fatal shooting of an Operation Dudula member.

NO ARREST BUT MATTER IS UNDER INVESTIGATION

On Saturday, 1 October, Operation Dudula took to social media to report on the tragic ordeal that has left one of its members killed.

A 43-year-old member of Operation Dudala was killed when the movement came under fire.

According to the SABC, members were in the area to launch the movement with community members, when they were confronted by a group believed to be against the movement.

“Unarmed Operation Dudula members at Sekhukhune branch were attacked this morning by a gang known as Thobejane that is believed to be Zimbabwean nationals. Multiple shots were fired and one patriot was killed.”

POLICE SPOKESPERSON SHARES THE LATEST ON THE CASE

Speaking to the SABC, Police spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo indicated that an investigation is underway although no one has been traced thus far.
Mojapelo added that Police in Jane Furse have opened a case of murder after an incident in which a person believed to be a dudula member was actually shot and killed during the incident that took place in the Jane Furse policing area. He added that nobody has been arrested so far and police investigations are continuing.

HOW OPERATION DUDULA MEMBER WAS SHOT


A bus that was travelling the members of Operation Dudula was sprayed with bullets leaving it with shattered windows. The incident led to one member being struck by the bullet.

Operation Dudula has been at loggerheads with foreign nationals due to the movement’s stance on ridding illegal foreign nationals.
The movement has on numerous occasions across a number of provinces taken it upon itself to organise marches and operations to get rid of illegal immigrants in the country.
