Orlando Pirates: Is the answer to Saleng staying?
Orlando Pirates have a lot to unpack when it comes to the future of Monnapule Saleng. He's been absent for over three months.

Orlando Pirates face two pressing uncertainties: Monnapule Saleng and Jose Riveiro.
The former hasn’t featured since December 7 following failed negotiations over salary demands, while the latter has yet to put pen to paper on a three-year extension tabled by the Buccaneers last offseason.
It’s no secret that Riveiro admires Saleng, but not enough to force Orlando Pirates’ hand at offering the 27-year-old a pay rise. This begs the question: Would a Riveiro departure lead to a Saleng return?
A new manager means fresh ideas, new ideologies and a shift in playing styles that dictates what player profiles the club relies on most. A Saleng-pro gaffer could influence Orlando Pirates to cave to his demands.
Sometimes, a change in scenery is needed to forget the past, and while Riveiro has no animosity towards the Orlando Pirates frontman, a new leader could bring a new chapter to the Soweto giants, one where the Bloemhof-born star is back terrorising defender.

The contract ordeal has reportedly taken a toll on Saleng: “He’s struggling. He’s not taking this Pirates thing well. Mentally, he’s not in the best place,” FARPost revealed.
His childhood friend, Boikanyo Maine, provided some light on the situation, saying, “If he was not an important asset, Bafana could not have called him. We are requesting that Pirates consider what he wants,
“It’s unfair, imagine getting R70 000 but your contribution in most of the matches speaks volumes, while somebody [else] is getting R500 000.”
Should Orlando Pirates try keep Saleng?
