Orlando Pirates tie down disgruntled Monnapule Saleng!

Orlando Pirates have reportedly made a bold decision to tie down disgruntled winger Monnapule Saleng.

According to FARPost, Pirates have triggered a two-year option they had on Saleng’s current contract.

The left-footed player’s contract was set to expire in June 2025, and given the situation he’s facing at Pirates, reports suggested that he could leave.

However, it appears Pirates are not willing to let him go for free, meaning whoever wants Saleng must buy him.

As previously reported on The South African, Saleng is unhappy with the Pirates hierarchy for his failed move to Al Ahly.

Ironically, Saleng’s last game in Pirates’ colours was against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on 7 December 2024.

He reportedly skipped training on several occasions after allegedly finding out the news of his failed move to the Red Devils.

At the moment, the 26-year-old is with Bafana Bafana where they are preparing for the second leg of the CHAN qualifier against Egypt this weekend.

ORLANDO PIRATES MAKE BOLD DECISION ON SALENG

“With the players’ contract set to expire in June 2025, FARPost has gathered that the club has exercised its option for another two years,” reads part of the report.

“The latest development indicates that Saleng will remain a player for the Pirates for an additional two seasons.

“What it also means is that he can’t sign a pre-contract with any club. Any club interested in him would have to buy him from his club.”

BEST DECISION BY THE CLUB FOR THE PLAYER HIMSELF OR NOT?
