The hosts folded for 344 runs in a slow first innings against Pakistan as England suffered from three early blows on the second day of the third and final Test of the series on Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
This meant that at the beginning of their second innings, the English team immediately suffered two early blows when opening batsmen Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley became victims of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, respectively.
Noman then sent the dynamic Ollie Pope back to take England to 20/3 in eight overs of the innings, as Pakistan continued their domination.
The game had to be called off due to light concerns after England had just batted for nine overs and ended the day on 24/3, trailing the side by 53 runs.
Earlier, Saud Shakeel conjured a fighting century to drag Pakistan back into the contest as the hosts folded over for 344 runs.
Pakistan, who were reeling 46-3 on Thursday in their first innings, went on to forge three 50-plus partnerships by Saud, who helped them reach 267-8 at tea.
His 88-run stand with an equally defiant Noman Ali-who made 45 runs-for the eighth wicket saw Pakistan regain much of the lost ground in the match.
Saud hit only four fours in his painstaking knock that stood out of its discipline.
Sajid Khan was on one at the other end after as Pakistan staged a remarkable turnaround. England captain Ben Stokes began the day with spin from both ends and Saud got a life on 26 when he edged Shoaib Bashir low into the shin of wicketkeeper Jamie Smith. Yet, off-spinner Bashir would not be denied and got rid of Pakistan team captain Shan Masood for 26, caught in the second slip.
