Hungry for a football fix now that the 2023-24 NFL season has come and gone? Fans don’t have to wait until the preseason to kick off to get their game on. Jamie Horowitz, Peyton Manning, and Omaha Productions are partnering with NFL Films and Netflix to release their new series Receiver, which follows the lives both on and off of the field of some of the NFL’s most talented and entertaining pass catchers.

This show comes off the back of Omaha’s co-produced hit docuseries Quarterback, which followed three of the NFL’s starting QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Marcus Mariota, and Kirk Cousins. Quarterback premiered on Netflix in the summer 2023 and quickly became the hottest show on the streaming platform. It was a massive success, racking up 21.4 million view hours in its first week while becoming the most-streamed show on Netflix.

Leading up to the production of Quarterback, Manning personally met with all of the featured quarterbacks to discuss the vision and intentions of the show. He also engaged with the coaching staff, who had questions about camera crews following their players during the season. Without Manning’s personal involvement, in all likelihood, the show would not exist.

This same planning and consideration went into Receiver and aided in stars like Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Amon-Ra St. Brown joining this season’s cast.

Alongside Manning, Jamie Horowitz was an essential part of the creation of both Quarterback and Receiver. He’s considered the father of the modern sports talk show. Throughout his 20-plus years in sports entertainment, he’s created and produced talk programs like First Take, Undisputed, SportsNation, The Herd With Colin Cowherd, and Numbers Never Lie. Today, most sports and news networks attempt to imitate his programming style when producing daily talk content.

Horowitz’s cutting-edge, innovative production creativity dates back to the early 2000s, long before the creation of Omaha Productions. While working at ESPN in the early 2010s, Jamie Horowitz recognized that the network’s talk-style programming often outperformed traditional news and information in the ratings. This insight led him to redesign many of the platform’s offerings, such as First Take, to feature more debate segments, and he was the catalyst behind the ongoing movement in the sports media industry to allow for more opinions on air.

Horowitz is the producer who helped guide the meteoric rise of a variety of sports personalities, including Colin Cowherd, Shannon Sharpe, and Stephen A. Smith, championing the idea of putting big personalities front and center and focusing on their opinions over stats and analysis. And you couldn’t ask for better personalities than the cast of players set to star in the inaugural season of Receiver.

This docuseries continues Jamie Horowitz’s vision for Omaha Productions of producing content that would bring people together. This series will cover both the highs and the lows that the 2023-24 season had in store, letting viewers be a fly on the wall for every moment but always considering the player’s point of view. Each player will bring a unique perspective and story to the table that will keep viewers hooked from start to finish.

Fans will get to see Las Vegas Raider Davante Adams have a record season despite a revolving door of quarterbacks and a coaching change; Justin Jefferson’s on-and-off-the-field connection with quarterback Kirk Cousins as both try to fight through injuries on the Minnesota Vikings; George Kittle’s clutch performances in big games and Deebo Samuel’s versatile skill set coming together to aid the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance; and Amon-Ra St. Brown’s elite season that established him as a rising star who led the Detroit Lions to their best season in over three decades.
