The South African Sevens side’s Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament went from bad to worse at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday.

Having been eliminated from title contention when they lost 24-14 to Ireland late on Saturday, the Blitzboks went down 26-19 to Argentina in the playoff for 9th-12th place.

At best the Blitzboks can now finish 11th when they take on Samoa at 18:15.

Certainly not the send off the team would’ve wanted to give coach Neil Powell in his final tournament in charge.
