South African National Parks (SANParks) announced that its 17th annual SA National Parks Week will run from 12 to 16 September 2022.

SANPARKS NATIONAL PARK WEEK

The national park week grants visitors in possession of a valid South African identity document free access to most parks managed by SANParks from Monday to Friday. The Boulders Penguin Colony and Table Mountain Cableway are excluded.

Free access to the participating parks also does not grant access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities. However, some of the parks will be extending free access week into the weekend.

“This initiative aims to give the public an understanding of the role that SANParks plays as custodian of the country’s natural heritage. If we are to create a sense of ownership of the natural heritage of South Africa in all South Africans, then all South Africans must be able to have access to such.

“We especially want our young people to take advantage of this opportunity because this heritage will be under their protection in the near future,” said Acting SANParks CEO, Hapiloe Sello.
