Frozen pizzas are a staple of my kitchen—keeping them in stock means I don’t have to stress if someone forgets to thaw the chicken or we need a quick meal to feed the kids before an impromptu night out.

Still, my kids love delivery pizzas and often beg for the fluffy-crusted stuff when I'm trying to make a last-minute meal plan. Recently, a friend recommended trying out a particular line of frozen pizzas from ALDI her kids love. It turns out, the Mama Cozzi's Rising Crust pizza might surpass delivery as my family’s favorite pizza from now on.

What I Love About Mama Cozzi's Rising Crust Pizzas

Mama Cozzi’s Rising Crust pizzas aren’t new to ALDI but they got a packaging update about a year ago. The Four Cheese and Pepperoni varieties are easy to find, and some stores have Mac n' Meat and Spinach, Mushroom & Garlic varieties, too. All of the flavors are $4.99, so the price of two pizzas easily beats the cost of a single delivery pizza. The pizzas feature a self-rising crust that Mama Cozzi's promises will be “full fluffy” once baked.

How I Prepare Mama Cozzi's Rising Crust Pizzas

The back-of-the-box directions call for baking the pizzas at 400°F directly on the oven rack for 21 to 24 minutes. I prefer to bake these on a baking sheet for a crisper underside, and I bake them for the full 24 minutes. True to the front-of-the-box promise, these pizzas rise incredibly well in the oven. The crust seemed to double in thickness!

Mama Cozzi’s Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza was our favorite overall, which surprised me as the toppings were just a simple tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni. The pepperoni had a delicious heat that balanced the slightly sweet tomato sauce.

The four-cheese version was beloved by our cheese pizza aficionado, but the rest of my family felt it needed a little hot sauce to cut through the dense richness of the mozzarella, asiago, Parmesan, and Romano. While the crust won’t beat good pizza shop pizza, it has a very satisfying chew and a fluffy interior that makes even the plain crust bits worth eating.

Next time we have a frozen pizza night, I plan to experiment with brushing the edges of these rising crust pizzas with a little olive oil and garlic to see if they can out-match delivery pizza. Still, my family loved these frozen pizzas so much that I put Mama Cozzi’s Rising Crust Pizzas on my ALDI shopping list before my kids could ask for delivery pizza again.
