This New Reese's Product Is Only Available for a Limited Time—Fans Are Swooning
Why I am stocking up on Reese’s Peanut Butter Medals, a special-edition shape for the 2024 summer Olympics that have the ideal peanut butter to chocolate ratio.
Halloween is always a fun time to dress up, scare your friends, and collect all kinds of sweet treats. But for my brothers and me, Halloween always meant business. Sure, I would dress up in my sparkly princess costume, which I insisted on being for my first ten years of trick-or-treating, but deep beneath those sparkles was a sharp businesswoman who knew the careful negotiation meeting that lay ahead.
At the end of the night, huddled back in our warm house, my brothers and I would sprawl out on the living room floor and dump out our candy, and start trade negotiations. Two boxes of Milk Duds for your Skittles? Three Hershey’s bars for a Twix? We knew what we were doing, and we also knew what the gold prize was in those plastic jack-o-lantern buckets: a pumpkin-shaped Reese’s.
Yes, a classic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup would also do, but the pumpkin-shaped? It was game over. The stakes were always high—even chores were on the line. All for that coveted Reese’s Pumpkin that was far superior to the rest.
Needless to say, the shaped Reese’s have a special place in my heart. They have always been my favorite candy treat, and over the years, I have found myself hyper-fixated on those shapes. Out of all the Reese’s shapes that are produced throughout the year, which one is truly the best? And by the best, I mean which Reese’s shape has the best peanut butter to chocolate ratio?
For the longest time, I thought it was the Easter egg, followed closely by pumpkin. You get the most bang for your buck. That was, of course, until I tried the most recent Reese’s shape, one that is only available for a limited time: the Olympic Medal.
How Reese’s New Olympic Medal Peanut Butter Cup Stack Up
Although this new shape seems like it wouldn’t have the highest ratio of peanut butter and chocolate—it’s not a big, fat circle like the egg or pumpkin—I was shocked by how wrong my assumption was. In my humble opinion, the Medal has the highest peanut butter ratio by far, to the point where I honestly considered if it was too much.
Apparently, the Internet agrees with me. Fans over on Reddit are saying that the new Olympic Medal is by far the best shape. Some believe that the chocolate shell is thinner than usual, hence why the peanut butter ratio seems a lot larger. But am I complaining? Not.
What do you think? The Olympic Medal is only available for a limited time during the Summer Olympic Games, so if you want to give it a try and see if this Reese’s shape has truly won the gold, then you’ll have to snag one before they’re all gone. Or as one clever Reddit user notes, buy twenty bags and stuff them in your freezer to enjoy until the next Olympic games.
