Sadia Iqbal grabbed three wickets and skipper Nida Dar took one for Pakistan, which won the toss and fielded. The Green Shirts started their chase with confidence, but the Proteas bowlers destroyed their top order. Marizanne Kapp bowled Sidra Amin for 4 runs after removing opener Gull Feroza for a duck.
Muneeba Ali (6) and Sadaf Shamas (2) leaving cheaply hurt Pakistan’s middle order. Pakistan was in danger after Tumi Sekhukhune dismissed Nida Dar after 16 off 26 balls and Seshnie Naidu dismissed Sadaf.
Aliya Riaz and captain Fatima Sana resisted despite a rough start. Riaz hit a brave 52 off 39 balls, while Sana scored 37 off 24. Their efforts were in vain as Pakistan scored 122/5 in 20 overs.
South Africa won by 10 runs thanks to their disciplined bowling, giving Pakistan a disheartening home loss. Pakistan will try to tie the series in the second T20I.
