In the second round of the United Rugby Championship, all four South African teams won.

The Sharks hold off brave Zebre in Parma

The Sharks made a rapid start to their clash with Zebre in Parma running in four unanswered tries to seize the initiative.

However, they had to hold off a spirited fightback from the hosts to get over the line.

Stormers start URC defence in style

The Stormers started their URC title defence with a solid win over a quality Connacht outfit in Stellenbosch.

Despite a second half fightback, the Stormers were comfortable winners.

Stormers 38 (13) – Tries: Evan Roos, Andre-Hugo Venter, Hacjivah Dayimani, Marcel Theunissen. Conversions: Manie Libbok (3). Penalty goals: Libbok (4).

Connacht 15 (8) – Tries: Dylan Tierney-Martin, Jack Aungier. Conversion: David Hawkshaw. Penalty goal: Conor Fitzgerald.

Bulls escape with a win 

The Bulls will recognise the need to be more clinical as they narrowly escaped with victory after a late shot at goal from Edinburgh left their fans on the edge of their seats.

Edinburgh couldn’t pull it off in the end.

Lions complete the URC round two set

It was a very close shave, but the Lions managed to repel wave after wave of attacks by the Ospreys at the end to clinch a deserved 28-27 victory in their URC clash in Swansea on Saturday night.

The Welsh side outscored their South African visitors by four tries to three, but Gianni Lombard kicked 13 points – including three penalty goals – to hand the Lions their first win of the new season.
