‘We are going to enter’ – Julius Malema’s GNU plan explained

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party is ready to form a national coalition government with the African National Congress (ANC).

Speaking at the party’s elective conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg last week, the 43-year-old politian predicted the Democtratic Alliance (DA) to leave the Government of National Unity over the BELA Bill.

ANC and DA have had opposing views on the bill with the latter threatening to quit GNU if the bill is passed.

Julius Malema expects DA to leave GNU soon

“This GNU will not last because if (Cyril) Ramaphosa doesn’t sign the BELA Bill, the ANC will remove him,” Malema said.

“If he is not going now, he will be removed in 2027. They will be new leader of the ANC. The person who is going to be elected is a person who is going to fight GNU, and that is why we are saying it will not last,” he added.

Julius Malema said that the EFF were patiently waiting for ANC and DA’s relationship to collapse in order to join the GNU.

“Everywhere else it is being rejected, but people keep on imposing it on members of the ANC, so don’t rush comrades, we are waiting, we are going to enter this government. We are just waiting, you will see.”

“We are waiting. We are going to enter this thing of government, we are just waiting. When they start fighting with Helen Zille, siyangena (we are entering).”

The EFF leader said the party was ready to govern. The party declined ANC’s invitation to join the GNU earlier this year, with Julius Malema stating that they wish not to govern with the DA and Freedom Front Plus.

“We are going to be in government. It is a matter of time before we go in. And we are not going to join the GNU to save the ANC but to serve our people,” Julius Malema said.
