Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari may miss their next match after sustaining an injury on international duty.
The 25-year-old played as Rwanda faced Nigeria, but despite their 2-1 victory, they ultimately did not qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Ntwari was substituted after 69 minutes due to an injury while his team was behind 1-0. The Wasp came back to win 2-1 on Monday.
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper hurt in qualifier match
Although Rwanda achieved an impressive win against the Super Eagles, they finished with eight points in Group D, tied with Benin, who advanced based on a better head-to-head record.
Benin defeated Rwanda 3-0 in their home match but lost 2-1 to the Wasp away. Ntwari will return to Kaizer Chiefs carrying this injury and might be unable to participate in the team’s upcoming fixture. The Glamour Boys are set to host Richards Bay on November 27, aiming to get their league campaign back on track.
Ntwari has been first choice keeper for Chiefs this season playing in all their seven matches across all competitions. Despite impressing with TS Galaxy last season, the 25-year-old goalkeeper has faced criticism in his last three matches for Kaizer Chiefs were he conceded seven goals.
Amakhosi’s medical team are yet to issue a statement on the nature of Ntwari’s injury. If he fails to recover in time, Nasreddine Nabi might field either Bruce Bvuma or Brandon Petersen in goals.
How has Ntwari been since joining Chiefs?
