India beats Pakistan in Women’s Asia Cup by 7 wickets

India women’s cricket team defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their first Women’s Asia Cup 2024 match on Friday at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka.After dominating with the ball, the Indian side chased down the 109-run goal in 14.1 overs with ease.Shafali Verma (40 off 29) and Smriti Mandhana (45 off 31) put India in top with 85 runs until Aroob Shah removed Mandhana.

After losing the openers and Dayalan Hemalatha (14 off 11), skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues finished the job. Pakistan lost Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali after five and 11 runs, putting them at 26-2 in 3.5 overs after batting first. Sidra Amin played well, while skipper Nida Dar (8 off 11) and Aliya Riaz (6 off 11) failed to contribute.

After Amin lost her wicket after 22 runs on 35 balls, Tuba Hassan took over Pakistan’s innings and scored 22 runs on 19 balls with three boundaries. Fatima Sana’s late 16-ball 22-run performance enabled the Green Shirts collect 108 runs before being all out in 19.2 overs. Indian bowlers was dominating, making it difficult for Pakistani batsmen to get huge runs.
