Kaizer Chiefs are looking to move on swiftly after failing to secure Asanele Velebayi, from Cape Town Spurs.

Amakhosi have already brought in five new players ahead of the new season but Nasreddine Nabi wants more players. The Tunisian tactician has made it clear that the team needs more quality to become competitive.

So far, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the following signings: Gaston Sirino, Bongani Sam, Fiacre Ntwari and Rushwin Dortley.

In recent weeks, Amakhosi were in hot pursuit of Asanele Velebayi. An initial bid for the player was turned down but Spurs however did not stop the Soweto giants from trying again. Kaizer Chiefs’ second bid was also rejected forcing Velebayi’s family to get involved.

Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou claimed Amakhosi were using underhand tactics to sign the player. He said the club was not allowed to contact the player directly.

Having lost out on Velebayi, Kaizer Chiefs have now turned their attention to AmaZulu attacker Tshepang Moremi.  According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi were interested in Moremi before.

“Management and the technical team have agreed that they should look at alternatives if they can’t get Asanele (Velebayi) which looks very difficult at the moment and that’s why they are set to bring in AmaZulu FC midfielder Tshepang (Moremi).

Kaizer Chiefs find another midfielder?

“Yes, they inquired about him before but since there was also interest from their rivals then they didn’t continue with that but now they are back in for him,”. a source told Soccer Laduma

Moremi made 29 appearances for Usuthu last season scoring twice. Kaizer Chiefs are also set to be looking to sign more players from across the African continent before the transfer window closes.

How good is Moremi?
