The Atletico Madrid Academy has been offering various football development programmes to more than 40 nations for a number of years, giving young players and coaches the chance to learn from the best in the business.

During their visit to Pakistan from June 3-5, 2024, Adolfo Guerrero Gunther, Manager of the Academy Internationalisation Unit at Atletico Madrid Academy, expressed his excitement about the invitation to the PFL unveiling and about returning to the country. He described Pakistan as a “huge market full of opportunities” and said that the academy hoped to explore new avenues for programme development there with the help of the PFL and Golden Ball Global.

Melanie Grace, Communications Director, stated: “We are privileged to have Atletico Madrid Academy among our guests and look forward to find opportunities to cooperate in Pakistan thanks to the successful Sports and Educational programmes promoted by the Academy.”

With a population of 250 million, PFL aims to satisfy the insatiable thirst of the football-loving nation by making football a sensation there.

Beginning on June 3 in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, the three-day inaugural event will end on June 5 in Karachi, also known as the City of Lights.

The itinerary includes talks with high-ranking authorities, events for fans in schools and malls, and a grassroots celebration at Lyari’s Kakri Football Stadium to honour Pakistan’s football’s unsung heroes, announce franchise teams, and celebrate a football carnival.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Pakistan Football League will take place in Lahore on June 4. Subsequently, each city will hold a farewell supper. On June 5, the British Deputy High Commissioner will throw a reception to bid farewell.
