‘Running from crocodiles’: Gayton mocks Malema after weight loss

Gayton McKenzie has mocked EFF leader Julius Malema’s comments about him getting bitten by crocodiles in the Limpopo river while on the hunt for illegal foreigners near the South African border to Zimbabwe.

The Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture made the quip in a video update about his weight loss.

To date, Gayton has lost over 15kgs since taking the helm of the department just over two months ago.

GAYTON MCKENZIE POKES FUN AT CROCODILE COMMENTS

Speaking to SABC’s Face The Nation, Julius Malema mentioned Gayton McKenzie’s quest to secure South African borders and thus prevent the influx of illegal foreigners.

The EFF leader argued that the mission was near impossible, encouraging the country instead to document the immigrants that were already in SA.

He told host Clement Manyathela: “Gayton McKenzie was running all over the Limpopo river saying he is chasing Zimbabweans who are crossing into South Africa and was almost eaten by crocodiles for doing that.”

He added: “But the foolish him didnt know he was proving what I’m saying that there is no fence. So what open border are you talking about?”.

Addressing Malema’s comments, Gayton jokingly credited his weight loss to being chased by deadly reptiles.

He said: “I think Malema has the secret of my success; I was running from crocodiles.”

In recent weeks, Gayton has been showing off his “summer body” preparations after taking up physical exercise and eating healthy.

In his latest video, the 50-year-old claimed he had lost.

MALEMA’S WEIGHT LOSS OVER THE YEARS

Like Gayton McKenzie, Malema has also made headlines for his weight loss transformation over the years.

Speaking to eNCA, the outspoken politician revealed that he had done so by cutting sugar and alcohol from his diet, eating healthier food, and following a strict exercise plan.

He also recalled an encounter with the late president, Nelson Mandela.

“He said [to me] if you want to lead the youth and our people, you can’t lead them with a big stomach. You have to lose weight and be in good shape.

“From that day, I was troubled by those things. Every time I gain weight, I remember Madiba saying our people are not going to be led by someone with a big stomach.”
