WAS there an arrest in DJ Warras murder case this weekend?

National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola last Friday assured South Africans that a suspect linked to the murder of Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock would be arrested before the end of the weekend.

Well, the weekend has now passed and as at the time of publishing, there has been no confirmation of anyone having been detained.

DJ Warras was shot and killed last Tuesday in the Johannesburg CBD, outside a building where he was reportedly providing security services.

Masemola made the announcement during an oversight visit to Safer Festive Season operations in Pretoria on Friday, where more than 150 new police vehicles were officially handed over to law enforcement.

‘Arrest imminent’

The national commissioner said police have identified a suspect and are confident that an arrest is imminent.

“A suspect has been identified and he will be arrested before Monday,” Masemola assured.

“We will have the suspect arrested. He is a known suspect and will definitely be arrested, if not today then over the weekend.”

The killing of DJ Warras has sparked public outrage, with calls for swift justice as police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
